PoE, or Power over Ethernet, refers to utilizing an Ethernet cable to power your lighting as opposed to standard electrical installs. There are a number of advantages to using PoE lighting over traditional lighting. First, it is far less expensive to install and maintain.
Second, since electrical power and data collection are distributed through the same category cable, you can easily collect and analyze the data that is transmitted between the lighting fixture and the software.
Third, you have virtually unlimited control of your lighting system, including setting policies, alerts and monitoring energy consumption. Finally, in some cases, you may be able to connect to other BMS Systems.
